Why not? The traditional JEA galas are wonderful events, tons of fun, and typically somewhat formal affairs. We thought we’d try something different this year. Sips & Scholarships is designed to be a little more laid back. We’ll still get together and have fun, just in a more casual atmosphere.
The event will be held around the new, beautiful JEA pool, so please dress accordingly (It’s Savannah. It might still be a tad on the warm side).
We’ll gather by the pool, but it’s not a pool party, so dressy casual is the way to go.
Every year, the JEA budgets for and provides financial aid and discounts to families who may not be able to take advantage of the children's programs we offer due to financial constraints.
Funds raised through Sips & Scholarships will support the effort to provide financial assistance, so children can access essential programs such as Preschool, Before and After School Care, Summer Camp, and Days at the J. We have the best children’s programs in Savannah, and we want as many families as possible to benefit from them.
The Sips & Scholarships fundraising goal is $50,000 and our ability to meet this goal depends on all of us! We need our community and JEA members to buy tickets and make donations to help us help families benefit from our fantastic Early Childhood and Children’s programming.
Yes! There will be sips, including a signature cocktail (water and lemonade, too) and light bites (think mini appetizers). Live music will be provided by The El Alma Trio. The El Alma Trio consists of talented musician and music educator Jared Hall, Trae Gurley and Ryan Kelly, and they will play songs from the American Songbook – jazz, soul, blues, etc. Perfect music for an afternoon with friends.
We will have a limited silent auction with a handful of fantastic items for bidding! We’ll also be selling raffle tickets for a one-year membership to the JEA which has a value of up to $1,000.
The party by the pool is for adults, but we’re offering free babysitting to make it as convenient as possible. Children ages 1-12 are welcome to hang out and do fun stuff inside the JEA (under supervision) while we’re raising money outside for children’s programs. There’s no cost for babysitting but registration is required, and space is limited.
