From now through July 26, 2024, you have the opportunity to help Chatham County public school children get ready for the 2024-2025 school year. For many, preparing for a new school year, which should be exciting, becomes a time of anxiety, and not having the resources to obtain proper back-to-school supplies can create unnecessary stress. With your generous support, we can help deserving families prepare their children for school with dignity and pride.

What is Project Elef?

Partnering with Repair The World and JCC Association of North America, The JEA has created Project Elef, and we are collecting items from the 2024-2025 Chatham County back-to-school lists and new or gently used  uniforms.
Elef
is the Hebrew word for 1000. Our goal is to collect a minimum of 1000 items, and $1000 by the Friday, July 26, 2024.

This summer we will be collecting tzedakah (monetary and tangible supplies) to benefit Chatham County public school children for the 2024-2025 school year. There are many mitzvot- good deeds- we are able to fulfill, and tzedakah is one of them. Tzedakah is commonly thought of as “charity”, but is more accurately translated as “justice” or “righteousness.” Tzedakah is a responsibility to help those in need, through acts of service, tangible goods or financial donations. Giving tzedakah is a concept that is never too early to learn!

What items are we looking for?
