Partnering with Repair The World and JCC Association of North America, The JEA has created Project Elef, and we are collecting items from the 2024-2025 Chatham County back-to-school lists and new or gently used uniforms.
Elef is the Hebrew word for 1000. Our goal is to collect a minimum of 1000 items, and $1000 by the Friday, July 26, 2024.
This summer we will be collecting tzedakah (monetary and tangible supplies) to benefit Chatham County public school children for the 2024-2025 school year. There are many mitzvot- good deeds- we are able to fulfill, and tzedakah is one of them. Tzedakah is commonly thought of as “charity”, but is more accurately translated as “justice” or “righteousness.” Tzedakah is a responsibility to help those in need, through acts of service, tangible goods or financial donations. Giving tzedakah is a concept that is never too early to learn!
