Janet R. Bailey - Artist

Janet Bailey is from Kansas where she received her BFA from the University of Kansas.

Janet presents layered paintings on paper and canvas, creating a series with specific themes. Concepts of spatial relationships are conceived by mixed media, with collage, paint, inks and various textural elements. Forms and shapes that are particular to the natural Southern environment, botanical explorations, ever-changing skies, night space and introspective reflections model themes.

For this show, Janet has painted a large series of tides, landscapes, sky, star, moon, and space-related paintings for several decades; these paintings have been collected by many. Even in her abstracted paintings, anything related to our natural surroundings – what is both seen and unseen – has long been her interest and influences her work.

Janet has won numerous awards for her art and has even designed a book cover for a published novel.
