Vanessa Withun (V.W.) is a contemporary representational artist originally from Bronx, New York residing in Jacksonville, FL. Her style combines Classical Realism with contemporary forms such as Impressionism and Expressionism. Her work incorporates a variety of landscapes, still-life, portraits, and conceptual art inspired by the power of chiaroscuro, brushwork, and tones in order to capture emotion. Her still life paintings are painted from life in alla prima. Many of her landscapes are based on captured images and/or created intuitively in order to give her work a more poetic sentiment. She is a 2021 recipient of the J. Shepard Jr. and Mary Ann Bryant Arts Endowment for The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida. Her work has been exhibited across the United States.
