Stephen Hall, Artist
Seeing the paintings of renowned artists Thomas Hart Benton, Edward Hopper, Paul Cezanne and especially, Takanori Oguiss, inspired Stephen Hall to begin painting. He never imagined that his own work could compare to the work of these masters, but believed that he could learn from them and possibly make respectable paintings of his own.
In 2018, after a long career in advertising design, he began painting.
Stephen’s education and experience in graphic design, photography and communications gave him an understanding of composition, color and form. Beyond those fundamentals, he was a novice in the realm of fine art.
His choice of subject matter has ranged from buildings and streetscapes to still lifes and agave plants. What interests him in all of them is form, color and light. Those elements are what he looks for and what he tries to render in oil paint on canvas.
