Enjoy the Black Heritage Festival Future of Jazz Concert
The Savannah Black Heritage Festival, celebrating its 30th year under the auspices of Savannah State University and the City of Savannah, will present its annual Future of Jazz Concert at the JEA, Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 7 p.m.
Future of Jazz is a concert of original, American and Jazz standards that showcases a group of young gifted artists, all under 25 years old. These young artists currently attend middle school, high school, college or a graduate school with jazz/music programs and hail from Savannah as well as throughout the region. Trombonist, teacher, composer, lecturer and musicologist, Dr. Teddy Adams will conduct and present this select group of outstanding young instrumentalists and vocalists who are truly “proof positive” that the Future of Jazz is in good hands. This program is annually dedicated to the late Benjamin M. Tucker, a local, national and international Jazz icon who truly personified the art form of Jazz.
Special appreciation is given to the Jewish Educational Alliance for its longstanding support and partnership with the festival and this concert.
