Dell Belew - Artist
Dell Belew, a self-proclaimed chameleon artist, continues to work in a variety of media. In the beginning of her art “career” days, Dell created mostly representational paintings in oil, acrylics, and watercolor—adding various media when classes in her studio degree from Armstrong demanded. For the past two years, her emphasis has been on abstract subjects on a wide variety of applied surfaces in both large and small paintings. Experimenting with paint pouring—the latest fad in the art community—became a challenge unlike any other. On the one hand, the paintings were completed faster; but on the other, they were less predictable and very messy to do and clean up. This year’s exhibit will be a combination of some of her representational paintings with texture and a variety of fluid art works and textured abstracts. No artist is worth her weight who has not continued to experiment and broaden her creative horizons. Dell Belew is nothing if not a prolific chameleon.
